Wallace Ray Hamilton — A devoted husband, loving father, proud Pa‑Pa, and loyal friend, entered into eternal rest on January 25, 2026.

Born on July 16, 1944, in Texarkana, Texas, to Ruth and W.C. Hamilton, Wallace was the middle of five children. Despite his place in the lineup, his brilliant smile, stand‑out personality, and unmistakable sense of style ensured he never blended into the background. Wallace cherished his four siblings: Rufus Hamilton, Lena Mae Ware, Jeanette Lipscomb, and Ineta Beaty.

Raised in Clarksville, Texas, Wallace graduated from Clarksville High School before moving to Lubbock. He began his career at Lubbock Cotton Growers-known to many as the Lubbock Cotton Gin. Always eager to grow, he later transitioned to the Lubbock State School, where his strong work ethic and leadership led him to become Head of Groundskeeping. He even earned the privilege of driving a company car, a point of pride for him. After 15 dedicated years, Wallace retired from the State School and pursued his entrepreneurial dreams.

Wallace founded Wallace Painting & Janitorial Services, a company he owned and operated for 40 years. A true visionary, he also opened his own arcade and restaurant in East Lubbock, leaving a unique mark on his community.

In 1974, love found Wallace when he married his soulmate, Bennie Ruth Mitchell, on October 7th. Together, they shared over 30 beautiful years filled with partnership, laughter, and unwavering commitment.

Family was at the center of Wallace’s heart. He was a devoted father to Margaret, Killeion, Darrius, and FreShanna. Nothing brought him more joy than being “Pa‑Pa” to Kendra, Keshawn, RayShod, Darrika, Tarrell, Brianna, Tsepo Jr., Kris, Ethan, Matthew, and Amirah. His blessings continued with his great-grandchildren, Keagan and Rhyder, whom he adored.

To know Wallace was to love him. His personality was larger than life, flowing with warmth, humor, and charisma. He enjoyed gardening, playing pool, and cheering for his Dallas Mavericks. He shared his love for the outdoors by teaching others how to fish, hunt, and perfect his famous smoked brisket. Wallace had a gift for building not just structures, but people. He poured into everyone around him and made each person feel valued, seen, and supported.

His impact extended far beyond his family. In the Chatman Hill community, neighbors were more like family, especially Kevin “Peedie” McConic and Dr. Damon and Stephanie Hill and their children. Wallace also held a special place in his heart for his dear friends: James Wilson, James White, Jimmy Randell Jr., Lawrence Ray Williams, and Nancy Prieto.

Wallace Ray Hamilton will be remembered for the love he gave, the people he lifted, and the community he helped shape. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the lasting imprint of his generosity, wisdom, and spirit.
