Funeral service for 88 year old Ms. Ruby Jewel Jackson of Clarksville, TX who went to be with her Lord, January 18, 2024 at her residence will be Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Citizens Funeral Home chapel, 500 E. Church Street, Clarksville, TX with Rev. James Johnson, eulogist.
Viewing will be Friday, January 26, 2024 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in Citizens Funeral Home chapel.
Ruby Jackson affectionately known as Mama, Granny, and Aunt Ruby, was born in Clarksville, Texas on September 3, 1935 to Amos and Beatrice McPherson.
Ruby attended school at Cheatham High School and joined
church at an early age at the Lilly of The Valley Baptist Church, which is now the Hope Valley Baptist Church. She was an active member of the choir, worked in the kitchen, and enjoyed being a partof The Golden Girls. Ruby was a faithful member until her health failed her.
Ruby met and married the love of her life, James Dell Jackson,who preceded her in death in 1989. She was also preceded in deathby her mother and father, Amos and Beatrice McPherson, daughter,Marilyn Jones, siblings, Laverne McPherson and Peggy Gray, and a
niece, Debra McPherson.
She loved cooking for her family, and always provided love and kindness to everyone. Ruby was employed by Phillips Industries and retired after 35 years of service.
Mama Ruby is blessed to have celebrating her memory, two
daughters and one son, Cheryl (Marcus) Jenkins and Yolanda Jackson of Paris, Texas and Dell (Dorothy) Jackson of Clarksville, Texas; two sisters, Debra (Gary) Watkins of Clarksville, Texas and Carmelia McCullough of Paris, Texas.
Granny had nine grandchildren, Kimmy, Damion, Melody,
Zachary (Erica), Whitney, Kierstan, Destinie, Bailie, and James; ninegreat-grandchildren, Kizton, Bralon, JaKadian, Ravon, Ayrius,, Journee, Marilyn, and Amariyah; one great-great grand-child, Xylo.
Aunt Ruby was favored with several nieces and nephews,
Ricky, Anthony, Tasha, Brandon, Clifton, Quincy, and great niece. Also, one niece/daughter-in-love, Stephanie Bell and nephews-in-love, Desean McPherson and Billy McPherson.
Ruby Jewel Jackson will be greatly missed by The Golden Girls, Tartener Johnson – her girl, Virgie Bagby - special cousin and sister, Velma Johnson, and the late Nina Jackson. She will also be missed by
Mamie Washington and her cousin Fredonia Taylor, as well as her two sons-in-law(s) of whom she called her sons, Marcus Jenkins and Billy Jones Finally she will be rejoicing with her best friend, Clarice Jenkins
